Conclusion Chapter 1: Introduction The early church was characterized by its steadfast commitment to the teachings of the apostles. Acts 2:42 states, “And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.” This book aims to explore the core tenets of the apostles’ doctrine, providing a biblical foundation for understanding sin, redemption, and the Christian life. Chapter 2: Concerning Sinful Man All persons are born in sin and shaped in iniquity. • Psalm 51:5: “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.” • Jeremiah 17:9: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked.” • Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” • Ephesians 2:12: “At one time we had no hope and were without God in this world.” The payment for sin is death. • Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” • Romans 5:6-8: “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.” Chapter 3: Reconciliation to God Sinful man can be reconciled to Jesus Christ. • 2 Corinthians 5:18-19: “And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ.” • Colossians 1:21: “And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled.” God chose blood to cover the sins of man; a substitute had to die. • Genesis 3:21: “Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.” • Hebrews 9:22: “And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.” Chapter 4: Coming to God No one can come to Jesus except the Father draws him. • John 6:44: “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him.” Jesus said, “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you.” • John 15:16: “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you.” The phrase “Accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior” is not in the Bible. • John 3:3, 5: “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Chapter 5: The Grace of God We are saved by the grace of God, His free gift to us. • Ephesians 2:8: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” When we were enemies to God, we were reconciled to Him by His grace. • Romans 5:10: “For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son.” The grace of God has appeared to all men. • Titus 2:11: “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men.” Chapter 6: The New Birth Experience To gain God’s salvation, you must be born again of water and of the Spirit. • John 3:1-7: “Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” Being born of the water occurs when one is baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ. • Acts 2:38: “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.” Being born of the Spirit happens when one is filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. • Acts 2:1-4: “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Chapter 7: Repentance It is the “Goodness of God” that leads one to repentance. • Romans 2:4: “Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?” God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. • 2 Peter 3:9: “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” Chapter 8: Water Baptism in the Name of the Lord Jesus Baptism for the remission of sins is in the Name of Jesus Christ. • Matthew 28:19: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” This was confirmed and commanded by the Apostle Peter. • Acts 2:38: “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.” There is salvation in no other name. • Acts 4:12: “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Chapter 9: Infilling of the Holy Ghost To be “Born Again of the Spirit,” one must be filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. • Acts 2:1-4: “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” This is a prophecy fulfilled by God as told in the Old Testament. • Ezekiel 36:26: “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you.” Chapter 10: Holiness God is Holy; we also must be holy. • 1 Peter 1:15: “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation.” Without holiness, no man shall see the Lord. • Hebrews 12:14: “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.” Chapter 11: Why You Need a Pastor A Pastor is to teach us “The Way.” • Romans 10:14-17: “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard?” The Pastor carries the burden of the Lord for the care of the church. • 2 Corinthians 11:28: “Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.” Chapter 12: There is Only One God The Lord, our God, is one Lord. • Deuteronomy 6:4: “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord.” Jesus said, “I and my Father are one.” • John 10:30: “I and my Father are one.” All of the fullness of the Godhead dwells in Jesus. • Colossians 2:9: “For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.” Chapter 13: The Importance of Scripture Hide the Word of God in your heart, that you won’t sin against Him. • Psalm 119:11: “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” Jesus commanded us to search the scriptures. • John 5:39: “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” Chapter 14: Why We Dress Modestly Women are not to wear anything that pertains to a man, for it is an abomination unto God. • Deuteronomy 22:5: “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.” Chapter 15: Why Saintly Women Do Not Cut Their Hair A woman’s long hair is given to her for a covering. • 1 Corinthians 11:15: “But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.” Chapter 16: Conclusion The apostles’ doctrine provides a solid foundation for our faith and practice.
